What is Tulikivi?

An introduction

Introducing Tulikivi

Our fireplaces are not just elegant, but also efficient and safe to use. You only need a small amount of wood in a Tulikivi, which will burn cleanly, generating only a little ash. It will come as no surprise to learn that our fireplaces exceed even the toughest emissions standards.

Tulikivi fireplaces are excellent at retaining heat, which the stone then releases slowly and steadily as radiant heat to give a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The surface of a Tulikivi fireplace and flue will however remain at a low enough temperature to be safe to touch.

All Tulikivi’s fireplaces are made of the highest quality natural materials, with close attention to detail and an assurance that the fireplaces will combine elegance with practicality. The doors are designed in-house and offer excellent seals and ease of use, while the fireplaces themselves are easy to clean and maintain. By applying a new Tulikivi “Colour” coating, you can give your fireplace a whole new look and continue to enjoy the beauty of a glowing fire for many years to come.

Our range of fireplaces are available in over 1000 different combinations, but we have grouped them into distinct collections to make the selection process easier. With all our installations, our principle is “all you need to do is light the fire” – you will simply need to fill the firebox, light the fire, sit back and enjoy the warmth from your new Tulikivi.

Learn about soapstone

Pure Finnish design

Tulikivi is Finnish for Fire (Tuli) and Stone (Kivi). A Tulikivi stove offers a way to heat a room by burning wood – but it is not just a woodburning stove. It is the combination of fire with soapstone that makes the difference.

Many wood burning stove owners find their cast iron stove overheats their room, meaning they cannot use it for a long time. With a Tulikivi, however, a 2 hour burn will slowly release heat into the soapstone, which then evenly spreads around the room over a number of hours.

Sustainable and natural

The heart of a Tulikivi fireplace is a clean burning stove insert. The big glass door and steel construction of the firebox guarantees a fast heat transfer to the room right from the first load of firewood.

The body of the stove is made of natural soapstone, which stores and gently releases the heat during and after firing the stove. Thanks to the controlled flow of combustion air, the flames burn for a long time, even with a small load of wood.

Why choose Tulikivi

Radiant Heat
Radiant Heat

Radiant heat generated by soapstone is pleasant and efficient. A Tulikivi fireplace emits heat evenly over the whole room, remaining pleasantly warm for a long time, even after the fire has gone out.

Clean, Healthy Air
Clean, Healthy Air

The emissions produced by a Tulikivi amount to only a small percentage of the world’s strictest allowances, which lead to considerably low carbon monoxide emissions.

Eco-Friendly
Eco-Friendly

A Tulikivi burns wood fast, with an efficiency of more than 80%. The soapstone absorbs and releases the heat from your fire slowly over a number of house. The warmth radiates from the soapstone, heating the whole room.

Intelligent Heat
Intelligent Heat

The heat from a Tulikivi is comfortable heat – soapstone does not get burning hot, so you do not need to keep children or pets away from the surface.

Highly Efficient
Highly Efficient

Just a small amount of wood is enough to comfortably heat a home - a 2 to 4 hour burn can be sufficient to heat your home for 24 hours!

Safe In The Home

There are health benefits to using the radiant heat of a Tulikivi; when air is circulated by the convected heat of a radiator or traditional wood burning stove, it circulates dust, which can cause asthma and allergies.
